Q & A with Jared Filsinger!

What is your yoga / fitness background? As a student? As an instructor?

I started practicing yoga and doing kettlebell training during the lockdown in 2020. Without access to public gyms, Youtube yoga and kettlebells became my best friends. I joined a yoga studio once more businesses slowly started to open, and quickly began an everyday practice. I decided to pursue my 200 yoga teacher training, which I obtained in December 2020 through My Vinyasa Practice in Austin, Texas. I also decided to attend the Strong First Kettlebell Instructor course in Chicago in April 2021, where I obtained my SFG 1 certification.

What is your practice philosophy?

My personal fitness philosophy is finding happiness through movement. It doesn't matter what your starting point is, as long as you have a goal in mind and the ability to move, you will progress.

What do you hope your students get the most from your classes?

I want every student to enter class knowing that wherever he or she is , physically or mentally, is okay. I want to make the journey to their goal as enjoyable as the destination. My goal is to make every class fun and accessible to everyone.

Do you prefer a specific style of yoga? fitness? Why?

I love any type of exercise that requires little to no equipment. My favorite workouts are kickboxing, calisthenics, kettlebells, and yoga.

What is your advice to a beginner walking into their first class?

Quality is more important than quantity. Go at your own pace. Push yourself, but be safe.

What tip do you use in your life to motivate yourself to move?

Life is short. I want to be the best version of myself, but also I want to enjoy life. Its a constant striving for balance.

What elements of yoga and fitness are you excited to teach, and why?

I am excited for people to see their bodies do things that they didn't think were possible, and to go to bed every night happy with the work they put in.
