Ashtanga yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
Join Laurie Jean Weldon and Rebecca Lesley-Paulk for an introduction to Ashtanga yoga. Ashtanga is a series of poses developed by Sri Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India at the turn of the last century and still practiced around the world. The benefits of this series include awareness of breathing, increased full body flexibility, and the ability to practice on your own anywhere you can put down a mat. This four week series will teach you poses, alignment, breathing, and focus at a slower pace than a traditional Ashtanga class.
