Our second reason to love yoga is the increased core strength that comes along with consistent practice. By holding different poses like plank and warrior 1 & 2 we are activating large muscle groups in our legs, upper back, and especially the core. Core strength is essential for almost every movement we do in our day to day lives! It is especially essential for a healthy back and protected spine. With regular yoga practice, not only are we increasing our flexibility, but we are also increasing our core strength, particularly when we take on more challenging positions such prolonged planks and shoulder stands.
